Rugby 7s

On Saturday 13 June 2015 our rugby team competed in the NSW State Final of the all schools rugby 7s competition. We played against public, Catholic and independent primary schools from around the state. While the results didn't go our way, the Mt Ousley boys played well and had a brilliant day representing the Illawarra. The day began early at Narrabeen and then moved onto Allianz Stadium in the city. The boys played their final game on the big stage at Allianz, just before the NSW Waratahs played the Qld Reds.

Walla Rugby Day

Hello Everyone,

Wow! What a fantastic day Stages 2 and 3 had on Friday, 15 Aug, for the Walla Rugby event. It was a beautifully sunny day, although not too hot, and it was great to see so many beaming smiles everywhere I looked.

National Tree Day 2014

Planting new trees and maintaining existing ones is very important to us.  Our playground hosts a variety of bird species and other small, native animals. By looking after our trees, not only do we sustain a natural habitat for the birds and other animals, but we also do our bit to lessen the effects of global warming.

We recently celebrated National Tree Day with the assistance of staff from Wollongong Botanic Gardens. Together, we planted a new bush tucker garden, along with a feature garden outside the main school building.

Choral Festival Celebrities!

Congratulations to our senior choir, who performed as part of the opening night of the 2014 Wollongong Schools' Music Festival. This year the festival turned 60, so we also got to be media celebrities! Win TV filmed part of our final rehearsal and the footage was shown as part of the news broadcast - probably at about the same time that we were getting ready to sing! Illawarra Mercury also paid us a visit, interviewing both Mrs Hamers and one of our choir members.

Loom Band Day

On the last day of Term 2, Year 6 organised a loom band activities afternoon. Children were asked to bring in and wear loom band creations, and contribute a gold coin donation. The $250 that was raised was originally tagged to go towards the Year 6 farewell, but Year 6 students decided to donate the money to the UNHCR Iraq appeal instead. In their own words, "The Iraqi people need the money more than we do. Lots of them don't have food and water, but we do."
