Some library news

Thank you to everyone who supported our final book fair for 2013. We raised an impressive $1800! We are allowed to keep 25% of this money, so we're putting that towards our library makeover fund. An extra big thank you to those families who bought a book specifically to donate to our collection. Special stickers will be placed in the front of these books and the students who donated them will have first borrowing rights when borrowing recommences next year.

Too Many Elephants in this Library!

This week in library, the students from Kindergarten, K/1 and 1/2 created some paper elephants. (Special thanks to Mrs Murphy, Riley M, Rontae F and all the students from Year 5 for their help!) The elephants were based on the ones from the Book Week shortlisted title, "Too Many Elephants in this House" by Ursula Dubosarsky. Everyone had a great time with blue paper, glue, scissors, tape and googly eyes and created some unique looking creatures. Then Mrs Hamers took a photo of everyone with their elephants. Would you like to see how everyone's elephants turned out?

Book Week Recounts

This week, I am turning over the blogging duties to 5 students from year 2, who wrote some great recounts about our recent Book Week Activity Day. Enjoy!

Last week it was Book Week. I was in group 4 for the activities. My group visited 3 teachers.

Read Across the Universe

Wow! What a great day we had last Wednesday! Thanks to all the students and teachers who dressed up in such beautiful costumes.  It was very interesting to see all the work that was completed on the shortlisted Picture Books and Early Childhood books. I am still working out where to display everything! There is no doubt that our library will be very colourful by the time I'm done.

Book Week!

This week is Book Week and we are having a special activity day on Wednesday.

After Scripture, everyone will be put into their groups (K-2 students will be in 5 separate groups and 3-6 will be in 5 separate groups). Each group will visit 3 teachers and study one of this year's shortlisted books. K-2 groups are looking at the books in the Early Childhood category and 3-6 groups will be looking at the books in the Picture Book category.
