Book Week Activity Day (plus a Book Club explanation)

Book Week is from 22-28 August. This year's theme is "Books Light Up Our World".  Teachers will be sharing their favourite books on our Twitter page over the next few days, so feel free to go and check them out. Which books light up your world?

Next Monday 24th August, we will be having our Book Week activity day. Students are asked to come dressed as their favourite book character and we will begin the day with a parade in the hall, which parents are most welcome to attend. Following the parade, students will be split into mixed grade groups and complete activities based around 4 of the shortlisted titles for this year. During lunch, Mrs Hart will be running a photo booth activity for anyone who would like a costume photo taken. In the afternoon, we will return to the hall and have a sharing session, culminating in the announcement of the official winning books. It should be a fun day!

In other news, book club orders have now been distributed. There has been a bit of confusion over whether we were having a book fair or book club, so please let me clarify this! We have 2 book fairs each year: one in May and one in November. During a book fair, bookcases of books and stationery items are delivered to the school and remain here for 1-2 weeks. Book Club occurs approximately twice each term, where students will bring home a magazine. Families are able to buy items by returning forms and money to the school, or by ordering online. Selected items are then delivered to the school for distribution. That's what has happened this week! If anyone is missing a book club order, please come and see me. There should be one more book club issue before the end of term.
